‘Tora-ditional’ manju to be released for Year of the Tiger including kabuki make-up inspired wagashi
The Year of the Tiger is approaching, and one of the best ways to celebrate is surely with some super cute tiger-inspired treats. Plenty of these ad-roar-able snacks are being released in Japan this month, including traditional Japanese sweets like manju, and more modern ones like doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.
Another doughnut chain offering up some tiger-riffic creations is Floresta. Their menu is filled with what they call ‘nature doughnuts’ because of the organic ingredients and natural colours and flavours. They started in Nara, but now they have branches all over Japan.
Like their other doughnuts, their New Year tigers are completely handmade. He is available as a ring doughnut (324 yen) and one where there is an adorable round tiger popping out of the middle (432 yen). His orange colour has been created with pumpkin chocolate, and he has chocolate stripes. Every part of the doughnut is edible, and made from natural ingredients.
They can be bought individually, or as part of a special New Year set on Floresta’s online shop until 7th January 2022.
The tiger doughnuts will be on sale until 10th January 2022 and can be found in both Floresta stores and their online shop.
