Dogs seem to have a natural curiosity for many things, like snow, sand, water… and it’s up to owners to make sure that their pets get to enjoy a rich diversity of experiences. But what do you do when your canine pal seems a bit reluctant to give it a go?

There’s good arguments on both sides, but these viral ‘before and after’ pics of a Samoyed seem to show that helping your pet experience things, even when they’re scared, can pay off in the end.

This dog, called Soran, seemed worried when his owner brought him to a swimming pool for dogs. As you can see in the ‘before’ picture, he’s too scared to go in, and his owner carried him above the water at first, hoping he’d get used to it.

But Soran was gradually introduced to the water, and when he realised what fun it was to play in a pool, he was frolicking with the best of them.

The ‘after’ photo shows a completely different impression from the ‘before’. Soran looks totally enamoured with swimming and playing in the water.

The complete change was so surprising that over 99 thousand people liked the Tweet showing the two photos.
