Six Must Try Local Dishes From Miyagi, Japan
On August 3rd, 2022, Diamond Dining Corporation, a consolidated subsidiary of DD Holdings, Inc. opened the second branch of their customized omurice specialty restaurant 男のオムライス EGG BOMB (otoko no omuraisu eggu bomu | Manly omurice EGG BOMB) in the Ikebukuro neighborhood of Tokyo.
An example of 洋食 yōshoku, Western-influenced Japanese cuisine originating in the Meiji Period, オムライス omurice consists of seasoned fried rice topped with an omelet. The classic style has the omelet in an oval shape like a French omelet with a dollop of ketchup on top, but a popular variant replaces ketchup with a savory demiglace-based sauce.
According to their press release, omurice has a strong image of being a favorite among women in Japan, so their concept with EGG BOMB was to arrange the dish into a hearty meal that men will enjoy, hence their restaurant's name 男のオムライス otoko no omuraisu, which means either "manly omurice" or "omurice for men."
System
The basic omurice with your choice of rice quantity and sauce costs 720 JPY (incl. tax). You can customize as few or as many toppings as you wish, at additional cost.
Customizations are as follows:
In addition, omurice dishes for diners with particularly big appetites are also available (see below for details).

Deep-fried fish (cod) +210 JPY
Bacon (+200 JPY), Mashed Potato (+150 JPY), Broccoli (+150)

Special menu items
大人様オムライス Grown-ups' Omurice
Omurice is often featured in お子様ランチ (o-ko-sama ranchi, literally "honorable kids lunch") but this dish is for adults. 大人 otona, the word for adult in Japanese, usually doesn't have the honorable suffix 様 sama attached to it, so this is a playful parody of the term used in kids' lunches.
With a deep-fried shrimp, a creamy crab croquette and two wagyu menchi (ground beef) cutlets, this omurice dish should satisfy most grown-up appetities. 1,730 JPY (incl. tax).
男のオムライス Manly Omurice
Flanked by three pieces of karaage fried chicken, broccoli and mashed potatoes, this is EGG BOMB's signature dish. 1,230 JPY (incl. tax).
2倍唐揚げオムライス Double Karaage Omurice
This hearty omurice dish for fried chicken lovers comes with six pieces of karaage. 1,000 JPY (incl. tax)
EGG BOMB 1 Kg Omurice
If you have a massive appetite, this is the dish for you. The weight of the rice alone is already 1 kg, and since the eggs, sauce, and six large pieces of karaage fried chicken are counted separately, this dish clocks in at far over 1 kilogram in total. Some of the most famous gluttonous YouTubers have finished it. Are you up to the challenge?
