Artist creates gorgeous miniature paintings on bottle caps

"Maybe I'm the only one doing this."

Such was the caption on a Tweet by artist and illustrator 西倉ミト Mito Nishikura (@n_mito0813).

As it turns out, she was participating in a hashtag that was trending last month, in which people were sharing their one-of-a-kind creations. In Japanese, the hashtag is #多分私しかやってない and is worth checking out if you haven't already.

As for Nishikura's one-of-a-kind creation, this is the image she posted:

A beautiful landscape with a red traditional Japanese bridge is depicted on a tiny plastic bottle cap.

Generally, most plastic bottle caps are about 3 cm in diameter (just over an inch). But for Nishikura, who calls herself a "bottle cap artist," that's all the space she needs to create her works.

One can't help but admire her skill and dexterity in painting such intricate pictures on these tiny caps!

Her post elicited many comments, such as:

"Beautiful! If I saw a bottle with a cap like this, I might buy it without a second thought."
"It would be a waste to throw it away...!"
"I wouldn't mind having something like this as a free gift for bottled drinks!"

It just goes to sow that painters aren't limited to cloth canvases to express themselves. If there is something to paint on, almost anything is possible, even a bottle cap!
