With their thing slits, oven roasted Hasselback potatoes are a great way to load up your spuds and get the best of both the crispy texture of fries but also a creamy and smooth middle. When it comes to tasty potato appetizers, it's easy to see why they're enjoyed so much.
Japanese supermarket Maruetsu (@maruetsu1945), which regularly shares helpful and tasty recipes on their Twitter account (including a mouthwatering potato carbonara alternative to cheesy fries), recently shared a tofu twist on the classic potatoes that's been whetting appetites virally. The recipe substitutes atsuage (deep fried thick tofu) in place of the potatoes. It sounds like quite the departure, but provides new texture and flavor combination to the classic that's even easier to cook!
To make it, you'll need the following ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 piece of thick fried atsuage tofu (180-200g)
6 pieces of bacon
3 slices of cheese
1 pinch of salt
1 pinch of coarsely ground black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
First, prepare the fried tofu by cutting 12 slits in it. Cut the bacon in half lengthwise and the cheese lengthwise into quarters.

Then, place the fried tofu on aluminum foil and alternate the bacon and cheese between the slits.

Sprinkle salt, coarse black pepper, and olive oil over the top. Parsley is also recommended.
