Elderly cat with “sparkling eyes” gets surprising diagnosis from vet in Japan

Recently, on her Twitter account, manga artist 黒百合姫 Kuroyurihime (@lis_noir) reported on her experience taking her cat to the vet.

Although 19 years of age at the time, which is very old for a cat, she was in good health and looked young.

However, when Kuroyurihime took her to the clinic, the vet became concerned because her eyes were so sparkling. Ocular abnormalities in cats can sometimes be attributable to thyroid disease, so he decided to have her examined.

After the examination, Kuroyurihime was shocked by what the doctor said.

"There was nothing wrong. Your cat is just cute."

Kuroyurihime must have been both relieved and amused by the doctor's way of reporting his diagnosis.

The post went viral and has garnered over 279,400 likes at the time of writing, eliciting comments such as:

  • "Yes, she is cute! Her hair and eyes don't look like that of a 19-year-old cat."
  • "I laughed. So that sparkle in her eyes was the result of an abnormally high level of cuteness?"
  • "What a line. With cuteness like that, I'm sure she could make anyone do her bidding."

After living a full life as a cute cat with sparkling eyes, she passed away just before turning 20. Maybe she's having fun playing in cat heaven, her sparkling eyes shining even brighter!
