Since the beginning of the 21st century, the debate over whether cats can achieve a liquid state has periodically appeared on social media, with growing photographic evidence corroborating this claim.
A pivotal moment in the history of the debate was in July 2014 when Marc-Antoine Fardin, a specialist in fluid dynamics affiliated with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the Institut Jacques Monod at the Université Paris Diderot, published his groundbreaking paper "On the Rheology of Cats: Can a Cat Be Both a Solid and a Liquid?" which won the 2017 IgNobel Prize.
