If you're seeking a cute spot to have a light meal or a sweet pick-me-up in the trendy Omotesando / Harajuku area of Shibuya Ward, look no further than 旬゛喫茶パンエス Junkissa Panesu.

Conveniently situated only two minutes away from the Tokyo Metro Meiji-jingumae Station on the Chiyoda and Fukutoshin Lines, Junkissa Panesu reinterprets nostalgic Japanese 純喫茶 junkissa (lit. "classic coffee shop") cafe fare with a cute and contemporary twist. The change in the first kanji from 純 jun, meaning "pure" or "classic" to 旬 shun, meaning "in season" or "trendy," symbolizes their approach. Junkissa Panesu is one of several cafes and restaurants operated by Espresso, Bread &, who also make a super-soft and buttery bread called ムー Mu.

Whether it's their lineup of tasty sandwiches, their sweet and savory loaded Mu Toasts with incredibly thick slices, nostalgic kissaten cafe desserts, muffles (waffles made with muffin mix), or coffees, teas and juices, you're sure to enjoy the great food and cute decor.

Let's take a closer look at what's available on the menu:

For six weeks from February 1st to March 15th, 2023, customers at Junkissa Panesu will be able to order a special fruit sandwich featuring succulent and fragrant Ichigosan strawberries from Saga Prefecture. The offer is made possible through a special campaign called Ichigosando, in which menu items featuring the strawberry are provided at several cafes in the Omotesando and Harajuku area.

Their limited-time 佐賀県産”いちごさん” パンエスのいちごさんど (Saga Prefecture Ichigosan Panesu strawberry sandwich) uses Bread, Espresso &'s original shokupan bread, a rich filling of mascarpone cream and, of course, plump Ichigosan strawberries. It will set you back 880 JPY and can also be ordered for takeout. See the photo here at Ichigosando's official website.
