We are reaching the end of August - it feels like as if summer is over. But no - if you fly about 2,000 kilometers south from Tokyo to Okinawa, there's plenty of summer left.

In particular, we want to show you one of the islands of Okinawa that is particularly beautiful.

Located approximately 5 kilometers to the east of Kumejima Island, "Hatenohama" is an uninhabited island that is almost entirely made of sandy beach. So when you stand in the middle, you are surrounded by white beach and emerald-colored ocean.

Out of many beautiful beaches in Okinawa, this island/beach is rated highly. Some even say that this is the most beautiful beach in Asia.

Because of its unique beauty, this place is used to shoot music videos and commercials. Look how clear the water is - even some Japanese people find it amazing that we don't actually need to get out of the country to see such a view.

To get to this beach, you must first go to Kumejima Island. During August, there is a direct flight from Tokyo. If you can managed to get on this direct flight, then you could leave in the morning and enjoy the beach by around lunchtime.

From Kumejima Island, there are many tour boats that take visitors to Hatenohama, departing from Tomari Fish Arena. It takes about 20 minutes to get there, and the price will be around 3,000 to 4,000 yen depending on how long you want to spend on that beach.
