On October 9, 2015, the "New Top 3 Night Views in Japan" was decided at the "Night View Summit 2015" held in Kobe.
This selection was made by 4,500 official members of the Yakei sightseeing convention. Even thought it's only been about a week since the announcement, people are already flogging to these night-view sites to enjoy the view first hand.
Check out which cities were selected:
Ranked 3rd: Kobe
The night view you get in Kobe is like a scattered jewels. The beautiful city lights that alongside the bay-side "arc" that reaches all the way to Osaka harbor.
Although there are many spots where you can take in this breathtaking view of Kobe, the "mountain area" (Rokkosan and Mayasan mountains) is coined as the 10-million-dollar view.
The reason why they say the view is worth 10 million dollars is because the electricity bill of all the lights combined to make this night view would cost about that much per night.
Ranked 2nd: Sapporo (Hokkaido)
The beauty of Sapporo's night view is its brightness - it can only be achieved because of the large population the city boasts.
A great lookout is Moiwayama mountain - it gives you a 360-degree view of the city.
Ranked 1st: Nagasaki
Nagasaki was selected as the best night-view city of Japan. The reason is the wide range of buildings and illumination encased in hill-ridden geography.
The two best spots to see this amazing view is Nabekan and Inasayama mountains. The photos here are beautiful, but they still don't do justice to the actual view. While you get to see the entire city from these spots, you can see the details (such as cars moving) like a miniature model.
In fact, Nagasaki was selected as the World's Top 3 Night Views alongside Hong Kong and Monaco. It's that good. If you are ever in Japan, or if you are a night-view enthusiast, we encourage you to put it in your to-do list!
