"Megurogawa Minna no Illumi 2015" is an illumination 'project' where 210,000 LED lights are wrapped around the cherry trees that are growing alongside Meguro river in Tokyo. It's a beautiful spot to visit during winter.
Standing there by the river, you get a strange illusion of seeing some cherry blossoms in the middle of winter. Here are some photos from 2014. It's breathtaking:

Another key point about this event is that all of the electricity used for the illumination is self-generated. And the fuel used to generate electricity is from waste oil and cooking oil that comes from homes and restaurants. By doing so, they produce and use electricity all on site.
The organizers hope that through this illumination, people in the local community come together to think about electricity and how we could reduce CO2 emissions.
The main illumination area is at Gotanda Fureai Mizube Hiroba (五反田ふれあい水辺広場), which is about a 6-minute walk from either the Osaki or Gotanda stations.
The illumination will take place from November 20 to December 25. And it's free entrance - which is nice.
Seeing the cherry-blossom colored illumination in winter might warm us up a bit - maybe not our bodies but our hearts.
