On December 24th, Christmas came early for cephalopod fanatics and deep-sea lovers, as a rarely seen giant squid was caught on camera swimming through the waters of a bay in Toyama prefecture, Japan.
Coming in at four meters (roughly 13 feet) in length and 1 meter (roughly 3 feet) in girth, the giant squid hung around rather leisurely and long enough for some revealing footage to be taken. One diver、Kimura Akibonu, who shot the underwater footage, claimed that it was a squid with "really firm suction cups, so just touching up against it hurt a lot. I was just about to let him go but he wrapped himself up around by body!"
