The Three Dimensional Maneuver Gear (or Omni-Directional Mobility Gear) used by the characters in Attack on Titan is possibly one of the most vital pieces of equipment for going head-to-head with the gigantic, man-eating humanoids. But the 3DMG isn’t just for the forces — you can get one, too, on your next trip to Universal Studios Japan in Osaka.
Japanese Twitter user @__Suigintou__ was one of the lucky USJ visitors who went home with a 3DMG, after dishing out over 100,000 yen (881.70 USD).
But with experience comes knowledge, and @__Suigintou__ kindly gave a heads-up to future buyers on what to expect when they do.
Apparently, there are a few “guidelines” you need to keep in mind when purchasing the AOT gear, which is explained in the tweet:
【For everyone considering purchasing the 3DMG at USJ】
・You can’t take the 3DMG straight home with you.
・You can wear it around the Universal Studios park.
・You can take it back to the store once you’re done wearing it, and mail it home.
・The staff will be extremely happy if you buy it.
・If you pay with cash, they’ll be surprised.
#4 and #5 are pretty obvious, but it’s pretty sweet that you can wear it around the park during your stay. As for having to mail it home, it seems that there are restrictions concerning the act of directly carrying it home. But all you have to do is give the store your name, address, and phone number, and they’ll take care of the rest!
It looks like it will take about a month for it to make it back into your arms, though, so you’ll have to put off combatting the giants for a little while.
