In commemoration of the newly transferred Parco Museum in Ikebukuro (previously located in Shibuya), a grand art exhibition is currently being held until September 26th, featuring artwork from one of the most prominent names in the Japanese manga industry.

The exhibition, titled STRIP! Portfolio 1996-2016, introduces an impressive lineup of works by Moyoco Anno, a Japanese manga artist and renowned fashion writer. With an expansive list of published works, — including Sakuran, which was adapted into a live-action film in 2007 — her bold, spirited female characters and riveting storylines have made her one of the most popular manga artists among young females in Japan.

At the Parco Museum, visitors will get an up-close look at artwork from some of her most popular works, such as Happy Mania (1995), Sakuran (2001), Sugar Sugar Rune (2003), and Hataraki Man (2004).

Guests will get the chance to revel in Anno’s powerful illustrations created during the span of 1996 to 2016, and those unfamiliar with her work will get an exciting introduction into the unique world of Anno.
