Original Ghost In The Shell Film Returning To U.S. Theaters In February
The original Ghost in the shell (Kōkaku Kidōtai) manga ran in Japan in 1989, and is one of few anime classics that was willing to choose military as storytelling background, and focus on political intrigue and counter-terrorism. It takes place in a futuristic cyberpunk future, with computer technology advanced so that cyberbrains can be adapted, allowing for the possibility of cyborgs. It's no surprise that the inventive world and story has been eyed for a while by Hollywood for a possible adaptation.
