One Piece Collaboration With City of Kyoto to Feature Special Exhibition at Daikaku-ji Temple

The internationally renowned mega-hit manga and anime One Piece is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a multitude of events throughout the year, some of which have already been announced in July but others which are yet to be revealed. One of these is an elaborate collaboration with the City of Kyoto called "One Piece 20th x KYOTO -- Kyoto Straw Travel Journal: Another Country of Wano" between October 7 and October 22, which will encourage visitors to discover the city's landmarks while engaging in entertaining events and attractions centered around the familiar characters of the Straw Hat Crew.

However, the centerpiece of this One Piece extravaganza in Kyoto will be a special exhibition at Daikaku-ji Temple with an original story, new characters and artwork featuring the world of One Piece depicted in the style of Nihon-ga traditional Japanese painting

Entitled "One Piece Art Nue Daikaku-ji: The Demonic Beast, The Princess and The Flower of Oath," this unique exhibition featuring artwork drawn by creator Eiichiro Oda represents a Country of Wano special side story for fans to enjoy. The nue in the title refers to a creature from Japanese mythology, a legendary yokai or mononoke with the combined body parts of several animals. Common to all variants is the fact that nue are evil creatures and bad omens.

Although the details of the story have yet to be divulged, we have some information on the identity of the Nue in the title:

Exhausted and famished, he finds a devil fruit and immediately consumes it.

The curse of the fruit transforms him into a Nue, a gigantic, fearsome beast with the head of a monkey, the legs of a tiger, the body of a lion and the tail of a dragon. Thus transformed, he takes to the skies, enveloped in a black cloud.
