Often branded an eyesore, industrial complexes don’t exactly have the best reputation when it comes to enhancing scenery.
However, some Japanese photographers have managed to see past the negative image and expose the beauty in these intimidating structures.
Using the hashtag ‘factory night view’ photographers share their breathtaking shots on Twitter, the hulking illuminated complexes giving definite sci-fi vibes.
Many commenters noted that the imposing metallic wonderlands are very similar to the city of Midgar in Final Fantasy 7. The pillars and rising smoke put the game’s Mako reactors in mind.
You can especially imagine these complex stairways as the scene for a timed mission, running through and hoping not to run into any battles.
An exhibition featuring the work of these intrepid photographers will be held at Todays Gallery Studio in Tokyo from 29th June to 22nd July.
