12 Underwater Photographs That Capture The Beauty Of The Unknown
There’s a remote train station in Ehime prefecture, Japan.
The station is unmanned and there’s a simple shelter with benches and not much else, the surrounding area is sleepy countryside. Despite not having much going on, people purposely ride to Shimonada station, in the middle of nowhere, just to get off, sit on the platform and wait for the next train.
The reason for this is that the minimalist layout offers stunning unobstructed views of the Seto Inland Sea and makes for incredibly photogenic scenery. These dreamy photo sets were uploaded to Twitter by one recent visitor (@neohimeism), and they fully showcase the appeal of the station.

It used to be known as Japan’s closest station to the sea until the construction of a highway along the shore.
The remoteness of the location also adds to the peaceful atmosphere and it’s beautiful at any time of the day, but the views get especially spectacular at sunset.
Shimonada's romantic scenery makes it a popular location for shooting movies and commercials. The station is known as one of the settings included in promotional posters for JR’s Seishun 18 discount train pass.
But aside from the usual shots of the platform, the photographer reveals a little known feature of the area. Nearby, they found disused tracks that mysteriously disappear into the crystal clear sea.
