By now, most people have seen images of people posing in front of angel wing murals. Either through Colette Miller's Global Angel Wings Project launched in LA in 2012, Kelsey Montague's wings which became famous when Taylor Swift posed in front of one in 2014, or the numerous other murals inspired by them which continue to pop up all over the world, wing murals have become a staple on Instagram.

Although Colette Miller set up a few of her angel wing murals in Japan, they're still relatively difficult to find. Even in the US, the problem exists for people who don't happen to live in a major city like Los Angeles or New York. If only there could be a way to take that beautiful Instagenic angel wing shot without the hassle of finding a mural...

Sebuyama's Instagenic Angel Wings

In his most recent contribution to Kakaku.com Magazine, Japanese lifehacker, writer and self-styled Internet cultural anthropologist Sebuyama explains how he loves angel wing murals and how Instagenic they are.

However, he noticed a big problem.

As soon as he stepped away from the mural, the colorful Insta-magic disappeared!

"No way! I want to be Instagenic whenever and wherever I want to be," he wailed.

Then his lifehacker senses kicked in and he thought of the perfect solution to the problem:

DIY Angel Wings

First, he found some angel wings on an auction site for a good price. These wings came pre-assembled in a giant cardboard box.

Sebuyama brought his wings, some poster board paper, and three cans of spray paint in red, yellow and blue, to the closest park and began spraying.

He sprayed broad swaths of colors onto the wings to create a striped pattern, and before long, he had his very own Instagenic angel wings to go!

Now to try them out in the city.

Field Test in Harajuku

Of course, Sebuyama set his sights on the most Insta-conscious neighborhood in Tokyo, Harajuku and Takeshita Street.

Freedom to Pose Anywhere

With his invention, Sebuyama can now pose anywhere he wants to and be guaranteed to take an Instagenic shot!

Instagenic in Everyday Life

Sebuyama was satisfied he could be Instagenic in the most Instagenic neighborhoods and take Instagenic shots to his heart content.

But what about in everyday life? At the office, for example?

Could he be Instagenic with his angel wings there? Only one way to find out...

So, there you have it.

Sebuyama concluded that his invention was beyond reproach.

No matter where you are and when you choose to do so, you can be Instagenic with a pair of Instagenic angel wings to-go...
