Running from January 10th to 19th, the Furusato Matsuri is a gigantic event that showcases the charm of each prefecture in Japan through food, festival performances, and arts and crafts. Guests can simulate a nationwide gourmet (many of which are selected winners of national contests) and entertainment journey throughout Japan by visiting a seemingly endless number of stalls and a stage area where performers from around the country demonstrate the extravagance of their respective region's festivals.
One of the spectacular festival performances on display is the Aomori Nebuta Matsuri, which features a giant glowing warrior float and skilled dancers and musicians putting on a lively show unique to the region.

Also on featured is the Nihama Taiko Festival, a unique and enthusiastic taiko performance highlighted by an ornately decorated float.

Of course, when traveling through every prefecture in Japan, you'll need fuel to keep up the journey. Fortunately a number of regional delicacies are available, including donburi that include Kagoshima's black pork, Shimane's rockfish, and Wakayama's toro katsu!
