Floresta, a Japanese chain which specialises in organic doughnuts, gained popularity for their super cute animal shaped treats. Though they originally started as a small company in Nara, they now have branches throughout the country thanks to their adorable and Instagrammable treats.
But just when you thought their creature creations couldn’t get any cuter, they started teaming up with one of the main trendsetters in everything ‘kawaii’, Sanrio, the company behind beloved and iconic characters like Hello Kitty, Gudetama and Rilakkuma.
They previously released special limited-time-only doughnuts for both Halloween and Christmas, and now with Valentine’s Day on the way, some new character treats have landed at the popular chain.
While before there were just two character doughnuts for each collab, this time we get two rounds of doughnut sets to enjoy over the course of the loved-up season.
The first part, from the beginning of February until 7th, consists of two ring doughnuts (450 yen each) portraying My Melody and Kuromi decorated with chocolate coatings and almond ears. Dried strawberries and chocolate hearts add to the romantic theme.
Then from the 8th February until Valentine’s Day itself, Sanrio character lovers can sample cups full of doughnut balls (600 yen), with some never seen before faces at Floresta. The My Melody one comes with her shy mouse friend Flat, and Kuromi is accompanied by her henchman, Baku.
No artificial colouring is used in the doughnuts whatsoever and every part of them is edible. Each one is carefully made by hand so there are only limited amounts available.
These special Sanrio collaboration doughnuts will be available in select branches across Japan, check out Floresta’s website for a full list of shops where the doughnuts can be bought!
