According to the Fashion Press, KAT-TUN's Kamenashi Kazuya and Yamashita Tomohisa, also known as Yamapi will be reuniting this spring as “亀と山P”(Kame to YamaP/ Kame and YamaP) for a new album and two tours with 4 performances in Osaka and Tokyo Dome.
The original album will be released this spring and the tour dates will be 9th and 10th of May, 2020 in Osaka, Kyocera Dome and 13th,14th of June, 2020 at the Tokyo Dome.
Fans are super excited as it’s been more than 15 years since their temporary unit as “Shuuji to Akira”.
“Seishun Amigo” (Youthful Friends), the song performed by the two of them has been one of the greatest hits and has become famous internationally, it was sold in millions of copies and hit number one on the Oricon Chart.
Seishun Amigo was the theme song of the popular drama Kamenashi Kazuya and Yamapi featured in, “Nobuta wo Produce” and also the best-selling single of 2005.
Shuuji to Akira comes from the names of the characters in Nobuta, played by the two of them and even after the drama has ended, the theme song was played several times by the two during the past years.
Many people agree that both make a great konbi (match) and Seishun Amigo is a song that will forever stay in our hearts and is still one of the most popular songs to sing at karaoke in Japan.
The songs of their new unit’s album are yet to be decided, but they informed us that recordings will begin soon and they’re taking steps to put together the PV.
The two also affirmed that even though the songs are being composed by the songwriters, they would like to try out many things and explore the many possibilities available, but as there are too many, it might get a bit difficult to choose.
However, they wish to keep the main focus on songs everyone can sing, so we can expect another success hit like “Seishun Amigo” was.
