Perhaps thinking that their ramen-shaped towels weren't enough for Japanese food lovers, retailer Felissimo is back at it again with another wacky Japanese food motif item. Their latest release taps into a far less celebrated food however, as it's inspired by natto (fermented soybeans). Natto are very much an acquired taste for the uninitiated due their slimy and sticky texture (which can cause adorable reactions from curious shiba inu) as well as strong smell. Still, many in Japan love the sticky beans and swear by them as a valuable health food.
Love it or hate it, you can now let natto protect your commuter pass (or any other cards, it can even double as a wallet) the way it protects your health.
The natto pass protector can be attached to bags as a key chain, and comes with a thread attached to "chopsticks" that resembles the sticky strings of natto goo that commonly appear when enjoying a bowl of natto (it extends up to 60cm).
It's also got some realistic natto details.
The natto pass protector/wallet can be purchased from Felissimo's Japanese and international online stores for 2,310 yen.
