Working at a cafe or bar, you meet a lot of different people. Perhaps you could compare the situation to a watering hole in the savanna. Camera crews know that every animal will eventually come for water, so they stick around to get a shot. At a cafe, everyone needs a pick-me-up and will soon enough make an appearance.
Manga artist Babareo (babareo2) understands this as well. The illustrator published a follower's real-life experience working at a cafe. She became friendly with an older couple who were regular customers. However, one day, something shocking happened. Head's up; it's a bit of a tear-jerker.

It's hard not to feel sad for the older gentleman. But it seems like he knows how to move forward.
