The base of Japanese pasta chain Spaghetti no Pancho's menu is "Napolitan spaghetti", a Japanese pasta dish with a ketchup-based sauce served with onion, mushrooms, green peppers, sausage, bacon and sometimes Tabasco sauce that has a nostalgic Showa era charm to it. Spaghetti no Pancho is perhaps most famous for allowing customers to challenge extra-large orders with toppings such as fried eggs, karaage chicken, and hamburg steaks that can eclipse 2 kilograms. A new temporary behemoth dish is making that look like kid's stuff, as Spaghetti no Pancho's new "Mountain Sized Big 3 Spaghetti" which clocks in at 1.8 kg in noodles alone, and a total weight 4.5 kg.
The mammoth meal is being released as a celebration of being featured on Japanese television program "Dekamori Hunter", a show where mammoth meals are challenged. The gigantic plate consists of three hearty "zones".
The "3 4 6" zone contains 800 grams of spaghetti, topped with meat sauce, 34 meatballs, and 6 hamburg steak patties.
The "thunder" zone contains "white" Napolitan spaghetti topped with 10 sausages (2 types), as well as cheese and cheese sauce.
The "panther" zone of Napolitan spaghetti is topped with favorite items off the kid's menu, including 10 karaage, 5 slices of bacon, and three fried eggs.
Orders are available from all Spaghetti no Pancho locations, but require phone reservation to prepare the meal. The meal itself is a food challenge, OK to clear in groups of up to 4 with a time limit of 60 minutes. There is no penalty for failing to complete the challenge, but if you clear it you get this towel that says "you're awesome" in Japanese. The meal costs 8,000 yen.
