Spooktober is upon us, and if your snack is not Halloween themed there’s no point in consuming it. Such an outrageous mantra is actually not that outlandish in Japan, given all the awesome seasonal treats that have already been announced, and it’s only the beginning of the month.

Still enduring as one of the top trends in the drink world, bubble tea is no exception to the Halloween makeovers occurring, and we’ve already seen some pumpkin flavoured creations from Moomin Stand.

Now Taiwanese boba chain The Alley have a new arrival appearing at their Japanese branches, with a seasonally-apt theme.

The ‘Witch Grape Tea Smoothie’ comes in a suitably spooky purple-red and black colour scheme. This is thanks to the Assam tea and grape smoothie base, as well as the chocolate sauce and black chocolate cookie pieces sprinkled on the soy cream topping.

The beverage costs 700 yen (not including tax) and it can be made into bubble tea with a tapioca pearl topping for an extra 50 yen.

To really hammer home the witch theme, the drink even comes with an orange witch’s hat charm while stocks last.
