The Sagano Romantic Tram

Although it may be difficult to travel now during the pandemic, one Japanese travel destination to keep in mind at this time of year is the scenic Sagano Romantic Train 嵯峨野トロッコ, otherwise known as the Sagano Sightseeing Railway, in Kyoto Prefecture.

Running about 20 minutes for a length of 7.3 km along the Hozu River departing from Arashiyama, a famous spot for beautiful colors of the autumn leaves, it makes stops throughout Kyoto City and arrives at the terminus of Kameoka City.

The Sagano Romantic Train is very popular with tourists, and for good reason. In the height of autumn, it winds its way through gorgeous scenery including a natural tunnel made of Japanese maple trees.
