You can’t say you’ve had delicious matcha ice cream until you’ve been to Tsujiri Kyotomise in Kyoto. A store with 150 years of history, it is one of the oldest that sell Uji matcha products, and is considered a sacred spot by matcha lovers all over the world.

　

While they have their standard menu of matcha products, this long-established store is always coming out with new menus to keep customers — many of them repeaters — satisfied. And in a very Japanese way, they often release new, limited edition products in time with the changing of the seasons.

They currently have gorgeous springtime desserts, but now that summer’s coming up, Tsujiri Kyotomise has just released news of their next limited edition menu available from May 1st, 2016. Being introduced in their Kyoto location will be the Tsujiri Soft Summer Parfait and the Kyo Latte Smoothie Yuzu Gelee.

On the right is the Kyo Latte Smoothie Yuzu Gelee (583 yen/5.25 USD). If you’re looking for something to drink, you’ll definitely want to try this matcha smoothie with yuzu gelee and red bean paste.

To the left is the Tsujiri Soft Summer Parfait (648 yen/5.80 USD). This decadent summery dessert has rich matcha soft-serve ice cream, brown sugar agar, apricot, and warabi-mochi wrapped inside yatsuhashi, a sweet Japanese confectionery.

The rich matcha flavor, along with the tartness of yuzu and apricots, is the perfect introduction for your tastebuds into the soon-to-come summer season. And even though it looks like summer in Japan this year is going to be hotter than ever, with these delicious desserts, we think we might survive.

Both summer desserts will be available until August 31st.
