66-year-old Fumiyo Kohinata is a veteran actor who is a regular presence in Japanese TV dramas and films. Recently, he has appeared in TV dramas such as The Confidence Man JP. Internationally, he is known for his role as Detective Kataoka in Takeshi Kitano's Outrage and its sequel Beyond Outrage, and as the voice of Ichiro Inuyashiki in the anime Inuyashiki.

Earlier this year, TikTok announced they had selected an unlikely duo of Fumiyo Kohinata and the much younger actor and model Ryo Narita as brand ambassadors.

Their most recent commercial, which aired together with the original TikTok video on December 4th, 2020, shows Kohinata in a fast-paced, exciting routine which displays very proficient use of the platform's effects and video editing skills.

The TikTok video already has over 1.15 million likes at the time of writing, and has been buzzing on other video platforms.

Of course, we don't know how much assistance, if any, he received in making his viral TikTok video, but whatever the circumstances may be, what's clear is that TikTok's strategy has paid off, bringing even more attention and recognition to the flourishing video platform in the Japanese market.
