Are you a ramen fan? Do you like sake? If you are, then chances are you know how well the two pair together – there’s almost nothing quite like sitting down after a hard day's work in the office than with a bowl of hot steaming ramen and an ochoko (a small vessel used for drinking sake) full of good quality nihonshu.
Now that the state of emergency has been lifted, some of us are getting back into the rhythm of ‘normal’ societal life, others continue to remain at home and work from their personal home office. Whatever your current situation, this ‘NOODLE SAKE: Sake meets Ramen nihonshu-filled glass jar from Daiichi Sake Brewery is the perfect accompaniment for the end of the day.
The ‘NOODLE SAKE: Sake meets Ramen’ collection is an attempt from the 348-year-old sake brewery to liven up the food and beverage industry, and give it the kick start that it needs after such a long time under COVID regulations.
And whilst the food and beverage scene gets a much needed boost, you, as the drinker can chill out and relax with the refreshing Junmai Ginjo sake that fills the glass jar.
The first edition, which was released in the summer of this year, was jointly developed with ramen food challenger Satoko Morimoto, who is familiar with ramen from across Japan. The jar was a fast hit amongst both seasoned sake drinkers and those who are new to the beverage, with all 500 jars selling out in little over a month.
The collection was first developed as a way to release ‘ramen exclusive sake’ from famous ramen towns. Currently the brewery expects to sell the jars at ramen shops and Chinese restaurants in Japan, and eventually hopes that the product will become a popular seller at an international level.
The second edition in the series, this time the jar is influenced by the cooler months of autumn and winter, and features a retro Shōwa era inspired design in red. Once finished, the jar can be repurposed as a pen jar or a small flower vase.
A limited edition, the jar is sold only at the official Daiichi Sake Brewery onsite store, or online shop. There are no current plans to replenish the jars once they are sold out.
