Many fathers around the world pay special attention when their daughters tell them they have a new boyfriend. It's only natural since it potentially means he could one day be a son-in-law. It can also bring up a mix of feelings and reactions, ranging from pride and joy to caution and apprehension.

Twitter user なちくん Nachikun (@nachikunaka) captioned a photo with this line. However, equally important in reading his emotions were the emoticons that followed. A note indicating happiness and excitement, and a smiley face with an angel's halo.

Both of which were rather suspect, to say the least, considering the content of the photo:

Nachikun is grasping the hilt of what seems to be a shiny Japanese sword.

If you think there's cause for concern, rest assured. It's only a replica, and Nachikun and her daughter's boyfriend already get along very well.

In fact, Nachikun was preparing shabu-shabu to welcome him as he traveled all the way to visit their home on a cold, snowy day.

When he came over, his daughter's boyfriend told Nachikun: "I'm always grateful for your hospitality," and offered him a pair of heat-resistant gloves, which was greatly appreciated since Nachikun was a camping enthusiast.

Not only that, but he also brought cakes as a gift. There's no way Nachikun could turn his sword on such a kind guest!

The post went viral, garnering over 143,200 likes at the time of writing, and eliciting comments such as with comments such as, "I laughed out loud," and "Hey boyfriend, get out of there!"

Others played along with the samurai action movie setting suggested by the sword, and left comments such as: "If you're indoors, a short sword is better than a long one!" and "I will fight at your side!"

Everything ended peacefully with Nachikun and his daughter's boyfriend, but you can't help but wonder if he jokingly told him: "If you want my daughter, you'll have to beat me first!"
