Japan is often praised for customer service and some hospitality from staff that goes the extra mile. That's definitely observable at airports and airlines, where it's important to ensure smooth trips for those traveling, whether it be with kids airline meals that make adults totally jealous or treating giant plushies just like human customers.
Passenger @vc10derness recently flew back to Hokkaido from Kobe Airport in Kobe on an AIRDO Inc. flight. As their plane was departing and they looked out the window, they were surprised and touched by an unusual gesture from the runway staff:
While waving his hands goodbye and bowing to the departing customers, the runway staff member also held up an adorable teddy bear to say goodbye with as well. Many found the video heartwarming, praising the extra step the staff showed and saying things like "this makes me miss them" and "this is how a pro does it."
Speaking to a representative from AIRDO, we were told that the company began seeing off passengers in 2013 like this, and that each flight at Kobe Airport gets this treatment. The bear in the video is a mascot of AIRDO, and is named Bear Do.
As for Bear Do, it sounds like he made sure to see customers off to the very end!
