Alice in Wonderland comes from a time which many fans praise as as golden era of Disney's innovative movie magic. Lacking many of today's technical advantages, animators and filmmakers relied on a more bare-bones approach to bringing storyboards to life. One such technique, the use of live-action reference models, helped animators capture movements and facial expressions. Kathryn Beaumont stepped in not only the as voice of Alice (as well as Wendy in Peter Pan), but also as her real-life model to help animators bring the art to life

This series of photography below allows us a closer look at the meticulous process to translate these referenced movements into animated film, where even the fastest animators could only produce 23-24 seconds of quality animation per week.
