Japanese Twitter User Turns Christmas Tree Into Terrifying Holiday Masterpiece
A 1,400-year-old ginkgo tree growing next to the Gu Guanyin Buddhist Temple in China has turned the ground around it into a golden carpet, attracting visitors from all over the country.
Said to have been planted by Emperor Taizong of Tang, this ancient tree stands in a temple built in the Zhongnan Mountains. The golden leaves have been falling since mid-November, and are an absolutely breathtaking sight.

What makes ginkgo trees even more spectacular is the fact that they have remained unchanged for more than 200 million years. That means they were around when dinosaurs dominated the earth, and are presently known as being a “living fossil.”
