On November 11, 2015, prolific manga creator Shigeru Mizuki passed away. Best known for his yokai (supernatural creatures of Japanese folklore) themed Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro, Mizuki's passing was mourned all over Japan and his legacy celebrated. Rightfully so, Mizuki leaves behind him an impressive catalog of work, story of survival (right up to the ripe age of 93), and undoubtedly had a major impact on the popularity of yokai in Japanese media today.
It wasn't just humans honoring his memory, however! A couple of Shiba-inu dressed up as adorable yokai inspired by his works. This Twitter user posted these pictures, claiming that there were yokai in their house!
