The word "Tokyo" carries a lot of weight to it. Although used to refer to Japan's emblematic city, the city's name is an umbrella over the sprawling metropolis that covers many distinct districts, and vibrant displays of modern and traditional Japan. Whether you are a seasoned traveler of Japan or first time wide-eyed explorer, a trek through Tokyo can be an assault on the senses. Fortunately, this impressive time-lapse by Christoph Gelep doubles as a virtual tour of the labyrinth city, making you feel as if you are actually walking the streets and riding the trains of Tokyo yourself.

Titled Hello Tokyo, the video is a whirlwind exploration of Tokyo shot over a five day trip in Japan by Gelep in January 2016. The entrancing video never truly stops, slowing down at parts before jumping back to a frenzied pace that covers the life and energy of Tokyo, while capturing all of its iconic spots--including Shibuya, Shinjuku, Odaiba, Akihabara, and Asakusa. Instead of focusing on different lapses of these spots, Gelep takes the viewer along Tokyo's train system for a virtual tour of the swirling city.
