You can’t say you’ve experience a proper Japanese summer without going to one of the myriad summer festivals throughout the country. From the smaller festivals held by individual towns to the famous ones that gather tourists from all over the world, festivals, or matsuri, are a way of life for many people in Japan.
The Aomori Nebuta Matsuri (Aomori Nebuta Festival), held every summer, is perhaps one of the most prominent. But while the festival itself is supremely iconic, not everyone can visit every year. That’s why they’re bringing the festival to you, with Nebuta-themed stationery and accessories by NEBUTA STYLE.
A festival of Aomori Prefecture, the Aomori Nebuta Matsuri is among the three largest festivals in the Tohoku region, one of the 100 Soundscapes of Japan, and was designated an Important Intangible Fold Cultural Property back in 1980. It’s most widely known for the extravagant floats that are made every year by craftsmen, featuring brave warriors figures that are carried through the city.
NEBUTA STYLE’s accessories use such aspects of the festival as their motif, and from washi tape to face packs, the lineup is packed with colorful goods that are sure to make an impact.
