Typically, pencils are hexagonal in shape. But Japanese graphic designer Hiraoki Doi originated a brand new idea to form his wooden pencils as beautiful cherry blossoms. However, the execution of the unconventional design was much easier said than done.

The concept was developed in 2015, and the cherry blossom pencils finally took shape with the help of a decade-old pencil factory in Tokyo. Despite the non-conventional design that was highly questionable during the process, Doi's hard work had come to fruition. The first beautiful Sakura Pencils have finally bloomed, and will go on sale for 394yen in mid-October.
