The days of travel need not be consecutive - you can use each day at any point within the validity period. Just present your ticket to the staff at the manned ticket barrier and they will stamp your ticket with the date of usage and the name of the starting station - this actually makes for a nice souvenir of your travels.
Heading along the Tokaido line, the girls' make a brief stop in the seaside city of Atami, in Shizuoka prefecture. Atami is a popular destination during the summer months, with attractive beaches as well as various shopping arcades and restaurants.

After a couple more train changes and rest stops, they girls reach their final destination of Kobe - more than 500km from their starting point in Shinjuku - at 9:30pm. Arriving in Kobe at night means being able to fully appreciate the bright lights of the harbour district, with its breathtaking vistas across the water. And the journey has only just begun - with four more days of train travel remaining, there is plenty more opportunity for exploration and adventure across the extensive JR railway network!

While it may not offer the high speed excitement of the shinkansen, exploring Japan on local and rapid trains allows you to take in your surroundings at a more leisurely pace, and the flexibility of the Seishun 18 makes it a true bargain. Check out the JR website for more details.
