Acclaimed Japanese manga artist Kazuo Umezu is just as famous for his trademark Wallyesque red-and-white striped fashion as he is for his unique body of horror (Orochi, Butterfly Grave), comedy (Makoto-chan) and science fiction (The Drifting Classroom) manga works.
At 81 years of age, the eccentric creator has no intention of slowing down. Not only was he just recognized with the Heritage Award at France’s 45th Angouleme International Comics Festival for Watashi wa Shingo (My Name is Shingo), a special booth selling limited goods based on his works was so popular at the Winter Comiket (Comic Market) 93 last year that his publishers have decided to extend the shop online for a limited period until February 14th.
Let's take a look at some of the cool Kazuo Umezu goods available for purchase there:
First, the ultimate expression of Umezu-ness, T-shirts with red and white stripes! These T-shirts feature Kyonshi Makoto-chan. The same design is also available minus stripes on a black background.
