The limited time only sakura inspired Frappuccino and hot beverage duo is Starbucks Japan’s main event every year. But before the big announcement revealing this year’s creation, the warm-up act has been unveiled. Alongside the drinks that can be bought at the coffee chain’s branches, a chilled cup drink available in convenience stores is also announced yearly.
This year we will be bestowed a Sakura Chocolate with Strawberry Jelly. A creamy milk infused with the taste of cherry blossom and white chocolate, they also added jelly made with strawberry juice. The jelly makes for a satisfying texture to enjoy while observing Japan’s wonderful spring.

When it comes to the saturation of the Japanese market in cherry blossom themed consumables, Starbucks usually find some way to stand out. Their unique mixes of ingredients for example, and in this case, the strawberry jelly. With the booming popularity of bubble tea, drinks with solid elements seem to be in fashion.
The mix of sakura, chocolate and strawberry jelly sounds more like a dessert than a drink and should tempt any sweet toothed participants of your hanami picnic.
The drink is on sale from 12th February for 219 yen in convenience stores all over Japan.
