Instant noodle giant Nissin always has its finger on the pulse of pop culture, as it has demonstrated time and time again through collaborations with manga, anime and games, having worked with Studio Ghibli, Attack on Titan, and many other famous properties. This is particularly true for its Curry Meshi brand of instant curry rice, which collaborated twice with Idolmaster Cinderella Girls on ad campaigns.
Curry Meshi Koitsura Girls
Now, taking their commitment to pop culture even further, Nissin has launched an animated TV ad campaign for Curry Meshi called "Koitsura Girls" こいつらガールズ (which loosely translates as "Those girls"), based on an original story with a whole cast of appealing characters illustrated by Shinichirou Otsuka. As many anime fans surely know, Shinichiro Otsuka is famous for his illustrations and character designs for the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- property as well as Conception and Granbelm coming out this summer. If that weren't amazing enough, all seven girls are single-handedly voiced by the versatile Emiri Katō, known for such roles as Kagami Hiiragi in Lucky Star, Kyubey in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Kiko Kayanuma in Darker than Black, Mey-Rin in Black Butler and Mayoi Hachikuji in Bakemonogatari. Finally, the commercials are set to a headbanging soundtrack by Japanese heavy metal band Maximum The Hormone.
Story
Tokyo 2040. Everyone in the city is hungry, including Choro'o Uno, who loves to play VR racing games. Lately, however, he's become obsessed with seven "Koitsura Girls" who live in a virtual world. The real world may be run-down but the virtual world keeps thriving, so Choro'o rides his bike in pursuit of Curry Meshi and "those girls."

Future developments
We asked Nissin Foods Holdings Co., Ltd. what future developments they had in store for the Koitsura Girls campagin. If the campaign is successful, there is a possibility that more videos will appear featuring the Koitsura Girls. Moreover, we noticed that each of the girls (with the exception of Togetoge) mentioned a favorite Nissin product in their profile (on the Koitsura Girls website), so we asked them if there might be future tie-ups in the works. They replied that although there are no plans at the present time, that is a possibility in the future!
