Neon Genesis Evangelion fans may be getting a treat they never knew they wanted in the form of a newly revived exhibit in Tokyo. For a limited time, Shinjuku Takashimaya will be hosting the return of an event titled "Evangelion and Japanese Sword Exhibition+EVANGELION ARTWORK SELECTION"--an exhibit that showcases authentically crafted Japanese swords inspired by mega popular franchise and roughly 200 pieces of original artwork.
What may be the main attraction of the art exhibit is a collaborative effort between expert Japanese swordsmith Miyairi Kozaemon Yukihira and Neon Genesis Evangelion mecha designer Ikuto Yamashita for original blades inspired by Rebuild of Evangelion. These include Japanese swords inspired by the original Eva Unit Series, Rei, Asuka, Kaworu, as well as the Spear of Longinus and Magoroku Exterminate Sword.
In addition, a selection of roughly 200 pieces of original movie and series artwork and materials will be on display for fans to enjoy. Tokyo's official EVANGELION STORE TOKYO-01 will also be opening up a merchandise shop adjacent to the display that sells original exhibit goods.
