Last summer, Coca-Cola Japan made its first foray into the clear beverage trend with Coca-Cola Clear. Now, for the first summer of the Reiwa Era, Coca-Cola is adding a refreshing citrus twist to that formula with Coca-Cola Clear Lime.

Coca-Cola Clear Lime

As in 2018 (and the year before that), Coca-Cola is featuring popular actress Haruka Ayase in their commercial campaign. On June 10th, they will release a commercial featuring her and a friend sitting on a breakwater and enjoying a glass of Coca-Cola Clear Lime.

Here are a few images from the commercial which convey the image of Coca-Cola Clear Lime as the perfect summer refreshment:

Clear + Lime = Beautiful Harmony

In the meantime, Coca-Cola Japan has already released its first commercial. In a parody of Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga's April 1st announcement of the Reiwa Era name, officially translated as "beautiful harmony", Haruka Ayase suggests a harmony of clear beverage and lime taste to usher in the first summer of the Reiwa Era.

The joke also relies on the fact that the Japanese word for lime ライム, written in the katakana syllabary for foreign loan words, can be "seen" within the kanji for Reiwa 令和. It's a bit of a stretch, but we'll forgive Coca-Cola Japan since they replaced Suga's frumpy face with Ayase Haruka:
