Starbucks Japan wow us every month bringing out new and exciting beverages, with many inventive flavours and combinations that the world has never witnessed before.
The coffee shop giant’s third summer offering in Japan this year is a Starbucks first. A beverage which contains three different fermented ingredients.
In an imaginative mix of both Japanese and western fermented ingredients, the Frappuccino boasts a flavourful blend of yoghurt, cheese and amazake.
The yoghurt acts as the base and the cheese can be found in the shortbread pieces, as well as freeze dried ‘natural cheese’. Lemon curd sauce gives a summery kick to the flavour with just a hint of amazake, a sweet drink made from fermenting rice.

The invigorating taste should offer a refreshing respite during the humid rainy season.
Fermenting is a process which has deep roots all over Japan, and Starbucks hope this beverage can act as a little tribute to that tradition.
The Lemon Yoghurt Fermented Frappuccino will arrive on the scene on 19th June and will only be around for one month, so fans of the fermented should get onto it fast!
