9 Messages From Japanese Starbucks Staff That Will Make You Smile
When it comes to a common drink such as milk, we feel like we’ve already seen it all. But just when we thought there was nothing new to be seen when it comes to this staple beverage, Starbucks Japan turned around and announced the ‘Gyu-New’ range.
Cow’s milk in Japanese is called ‘gyunyu’, so Starbucks have swapped out the ‘nyu’ for the English word ‘new’ creating this clever pun to describe their new milk-based releases.

The two offerings have been created with the idea of taking a fresh look at how milk is used in beverages, to create something innovative and unexpected.
The ‘Fruit Gyu-New Frappuccino’ is inspired by the fruit milk that used to come in glass milk bottles in Japan. It is made from fruit juice with mango, banana, white peach, orange, satsuma, pineapple, and apple flavour, blended with ice and milk. The whipped cream top is decorated with a chunky fruit sauce made from mango, white peach, pineapple, and apricot, and finished off with a shiny red cherry for a retro vibe.

Next up is the ‘Fuwa Fuwa Mousse Coffee Gyu-New’. This is also inspired by beverages served in milk bottles, but it goes the coffee route rather than the fruity one. The super fluffy mousse is made with vanilla-flavoured coffee and milk mixed with whipped cream. It’s topped with fresh cream and a white mocha syrup, vanilla syrup, and cold brew coffee. The finishing touch is a sprinkle of cocoa powder.

These beverages will be on sale in branches of Starbucks Japan until 12th April 2022.
