With virtual singer YuNi as host, YuNi no All Night Nippon i is a fun and entertaining radio show, comprising a longer live portion on the Vtuber live streaming platform Colon: and a shorter archive-only segment available exclusively on the All Night Nippon i site. YuNi occasionally invites other Virtual Youtubers to join her.

Episode 7: YuniPon Hard Mode

Ohamonii~
Welcome to another episode of YuNi no All Night Nippon i
This week, YuNi is by herself in the studio, giving her best shot at YuniPon Hard Mode.

YuniPon is a popular corner on the live portion of YuNi no All Night Nippon i where your favorite virtual singer has to talk about a subject selected at random from a gachapon (capsule toy dispenser) within one minute (without looking at her watch). In Hard Mode, she has to talk for twice as long and still manage to finish up exactly at the two minute mark.

Topic 1: Crane Games

YuNi, who plays crane games (called "UFO Catcher" in Japan) at game centers, talked about what she does to increase her chances of winning a prize. She likes to observe other people playing and check out the machines carefully to make her assessment. Can you guess what she's looking for? (Hint: It has to do with "hanging loose")

Topic 2: Your favorite place in your home

YuNi talked about this before on the show, but she just loves baths. One of her favorite things to do is watching anime on Netflix while soaking in the bathtub! Another place she likes is the genkan entrance area. It's usually the place where Japanese people take off their shoes before going into their home, but YuNi has a rather unusual activity she likes to do there...

So, how did she do with the two-minute challenge? YuNi glanced at her director in the studio for confirmation but he made a sour face.

Better luck next time, YuNi!

This week's nihongo tip

  • Japanese: 癒される
  • English transliteration: iyasareru
  • Meaning: to feel relaxed, to feel at ease, at peace

YuNi used this verb to talk about the bathroom where she enjoys soaking in her bathtub. Listen for it in the show:

Pattern 1: 癒される場所 iyasareru basho (a place where I feel at ease)

  • やっぱ、なんというかな、一番癒される場所ですね。
  • Yappa, nantoiuka, ichiban iyasareru basho desu ne.
  • After all, how can I put it, it's the place where I feel most at ease.

You can also use it in the following way:

Pattern 2: X~に癒されます X ni iyasaremasu (X cheers me up, makes me feel better)

  • 京アニの作品に癒されますね。
  • Kyoani no sakuhin ni iyasaremasu ne.
  • Kyoani works cheer me up.
