Baskin Robbins Japan to mark ‘shincha’ season by releasing brand new caramel matcha flavour

Baskin Robbins, known simply as ‘Thirty-One’ in Japan, is no stranger to turning their ice cream expertise to collaborations with beloved pop culture institutions. Earlier this year they brought out the sweetest take on Pokemon ice cream, including original flavours and ice cream cakes.
Now the movie moment of the winter, the new Star Wars film, is also getting an icy and delicious cake tribute featuring some of the most recognisable characters from the iconic series, called the 'Galaxy Palette'.
Each of the six individual slices is decorated with an adorable depiction of a character and aesthetically suitable flourishes of whipped cream.
The cake also comes with lightsaber design picks which you can use to decorate the cake as you please.
The characters, which have received a cute makeover and been portrayed on a chocolate plate, each sit on a different flavoured slice of ice cream cake.
R2-D2 is on popping shower flavour with white sponge cake.
Darth Vader represents the dark side with chocolate flake ice cream on a chocolate sponge base.
The Storm Trooper is white chocolate and chocolate chip ice cream on white sponge.
BB-8’s colouring is reflected in the caramel ribbon ice cream which sits on chocolate sponge cake.
Wise Yoda’s ice cream is jamocha almond fudge chocolate with chocolate sponge cake.
C3PO decorates a slice of strawberry cheesecake and white sponge.
Like the best New Year present ever for lovers of science fiction and ice cream, the Galaxy Palette will land in Japanese Baskin Robbins branches on New Years Day, but it will only be sold in limited numbers, costing 3600 yen.
