Electronics manufacturer Sharp Corporation, better known world-wide for its televisions, solar panels and mobile phones, stated in a press release today, March 24th, 2020, that it had officially launched its production line for surgical face masks made of non-woven fabric. The announcement comes less than a month after the electronic maker first revealed on February 28th that it would make masks in a TV factory with high-end clean rooms.
In today's press release, Sharp Corporation unveiled the first image of the finished product, along with photos of the manufacturing line.
The masks are being made in Sharp Corporation's TV factory in Taki City, Mie Prefecture:

Initial production has been set at 150,000 units a day, with the goal of ramping up to 500,000 units per day.

The press release states that Sharp Corporation is working with the Japanese government to provide masks wherever they may be needed, although they will prioritize deliveries to the government. After that, the masks will be sold on the SHARP COCORO LIFE e-commerce site.

The MA-1050 face masks will go on sale before the end of the month. Specific dates and pricing details will be announced in the near future.
