The new sets will feature an interactive LEGO Mario figure who can collect coins, stomp goombas and communicate with players as he is moved through the levels they have designed out of LEGO. Brick by brick, players can interact with and even build the Super Mario world like never before. We can already feel the tangible excitement of laying a LEGO course for Mario filled with crafty obstacles and spectacular rewards of our own creation!
If your fingers are itching to get your hands on a set just reading this , check out the teaser video from LEGO below:
Through the fusion of physical (LEGO) and virtual (Super Mario) play styles, both companies intend to create an entirely new field of play. LEGO is the perfect tool for this, empowering fans with the omnipotent power of Nintendo's game developers as they design levels in the real world which can then be brought to life through the digital power of the Super Mario figure.

Julia Goldin, Chief Marketing Officer, EVP of the LEGO Group echoed this statement, saying:
“this experience we will help millions of kids with love for Mario to engage and play in a completely new way, where they are in control of creating and playing games with their favourite character. By seamlessly incorporating the latest digital technology, LEGO Super Mario is a highly social, interactive and collaborative experience for kids.”
Nintendo also share a similar vision for this new way to empower kids through play. Takashi Tezuka, Executive Officer and Game Producer of Nintendo Co., Ltd. said:
“I have always liked LEGO products and how they help children use their imagination to play”, said “The new product we created together with the LEGO Group seeks to combine two different styles of play – one where you freely build the world of Mario and the other where you play with Mario in the very world that you have created.”
Along with kids and fans across the world, we are jumping like Mario himself in anticipation for the release of these innovative sets later this year.
